About Us : News

Pacific moves over to Linux, which is great news for our clients.

We've just moved our CfMC research software platform from an HP3000N mainframe over to a racehorse fast Linux server. A steady increase in our workload pushed our old server to its limits, and our new server speeds many of our internal processes. Most importantly, the new Linux server is great news for our clients! For starters, we're now able to automatically e-mail daily reports after the close of interviewing, so even our earliest rising East Coast clients have their reports waiting for them. Add that to much faster processing of sample and data, and the switch has been a winner for both us and our clients.

Pacific introduces web-enabled CATI stations.

Some of our clients requested that our Interviewers have internet access at their stations, and we listened. With our new web-enabled CATI stations, interviewers can access a website mid-interview, or conduct an entire telephone interview using Pacific's or another research firm's web survey software. This versatility will come in handy when partnering with clients that have already programmed a web survey, or with international firms that might not use CfMC telephone software. And that means more flexibility for our clients.

Pacific offers all employees a matched 401K.

Someday even our youngest Interviewers will retire, and we want to make sure they're prepared. We've introduced a new 401K plan with dollar for dollar matching up to 4%, and the buzz around the office has been terrific. Let's hope the Dow Jones hits 30,000.

Pacific completes its first Russian language study.

Pacific Market Research recently completed a survey of Russian speaking consumers throughout the United States, as part of a multi-language project in which we will also be interviewing in Mandarin, Cantonese, and Vietnamese. Pacific has expanded its language capabilities over the past two years, and has one of the largest Spanish language data collection staffs in the Western United States, as well as Spanish language programming, monitoring, and supervision. We have also begun to conduct surveys in many Asian languages, Tagalog, and French. All interviewers working in our foreign language department are fluent in English as well, allowing respondents to participate in the language of their choice.

Pacific welcomes a new CfMC programmer fluent in Shanghai dialect and Mandarin.

Pacific Market Research recently welcomed a new addition to our programming staff, John Zheng. John is an MBA who hails originally from Shanghai, China, and has worked in market research for nearly 10 years. He worked previously for NFO World Group, and moved from Ohio to join us in sunny Seattle. We're excited to gain from his experience and perspective.

Pacific adds ConfirmIT, a powerful web survey software, to its offerings.

Pacific Market Research recently added ConfirmIT, acknowledged to be among the most powerful web packages available, to its offerings. Veteran research companies such as Greenfield Online, AC Nielsen, Taylor Nelson Sofres, and The NPD Group all use this software for their online surveys. We're pleased to be able to provide our clients with this powerful tool, and of course to combine it with the exceptional project management we already deliver every day.

Pacific offers all of its employees free public transportation.

In our own small way, Pacific is going green. We've paid in full for all of our employees to have free annual bus and rail passes. This will save all of them a bit of change, and cut down on the traffic and pollution in our area. So far, the program has received a very warm reception throughout the company.

Pacific gives Fort Knox a run for its money.

After a lengthy physical and technological overhaul, Pacific can now offer clients extremely high security data collection. In response to our clients' needs for robust security for specific projects, our staff and a select group of interviewers has passed lengthy FBI and IRS background checks, to allow us to handle FTI (Federal Taxpayer Information) data. As well, we have installed high security rooms, communication protocols, and system safeguards to protect data for these extremely sensitive projects.
